The next evening they walked back into The Playground after going through security. Nora wore a long red crepe dress and matching kick-ass heels. Alex asked, “You ready for this?”

“Sure. Let’s be bad guys.”

He stared down at her and beamed. “Shiny.”

As he moved into the club, a flutter of respect danced like butterflies in her stomach. He got her reference to Firefly and it peeled back another layer of wellguarded personality. He was a secret geek. And didn’t she just melt?

A guard came up to Alex and handed him a keycard. “As you requested, Sir.”

Nora frowned. She was sure she’d find out the meaning of the card later, but it unnerved her. She wondered what Alex planned.

“Come on, sweetheart.” Before she had a chance to look at him, a blindfold covered her eyes. Made of padded silk, it completely blocked out the light.

She touched the pads and said, “Alex?” Apprehension clawed to the surface. Trust wasn’t an issue, but being blind in a club owned by a man they were investigating pushed her past her comfort zone.

He pressed a kiss to the sensitive spot just below her earlobe, making her shiver. “Relax. Let me take care of you. I’m going to teach you what submission can be.”

Desire beat its wings and caressed her skin. She’d agreed to this back at the hotel. Craved it. She should take advantage of every opportunity to explore with him.

Her heightened senses reeled as they moved through the club. The pulse of music and grunts, groans and moans vibrated in her eardrums, reverberating through her. She could distinguish individual scents—musk, jasmine, lavender, sweat, skin. The sweet bouquets of alcohol—rum, lime, peaty whiskey.

She’d played around with blindfolds in college but that’s all it had been—playing. It hadn’t made her feel as alive as being blinded by Alex.

He touched her arm and signaled her to stop. He swiped the card and she heard the blip signaling their acceptance into another room. She walked forward at his request. The door clicked closed and the silence roared.

Soundproofing. They must be in one of the private rooms.

“Remove your dress, get on your knees, clasp your hands behind your back and offer yourself.”

The dangerous edge to his tone made her sizzle. He’d gone from playful to serious. He meant business and she intended to follow his commands. Without sight, she was hyperaware of him. Being unable to judge his facial expressions scared and thrilled her in equal measures. If she displeased him, he’d have to tell her. The candid openness would be a new experience.

“Nora, did you hear me?”

“Oh…yes.”

“Nora.” Her name was a chastisement. “Stop thinking. Submission is about feeling. Serving. Letting go of doubts and fears. Focus. Concentrate. Open and submit.”

Sexual energy rolled off him in waves. It crashed against her and she allowed it to clear her mind. Alex wanted her. Nothing else mattered but him.

“Yes Sir.”

“Good girl. Remove your dress, get on your knees, clasp your hands behind your back and offer yourself.”

She stripped off her dress and got on the floor.
